GROUP AWARDS

JC PENNY GOLDEN RULE AWARD
Given to an organization who provides outstanding volunteer services to better its community.  DICE received a crystal golden flame as well as a $1000. 

CITATION FOR JC PENNY GOLDEN RULE AWARD
The Mayor as well as City Manager presented a citation to DICE on behalf of their volunteerism efforts. 

AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION AWARD
The American Lung Association presented DICE with a framed certificated in appreciation of their efforts in the fight against tobacco use. 

YOUTH CARING FOR OTHERS GROUP AWARD
The Youth Caring For Others International selected DICE as one of only nine recipients nation wide for this prestigious award.  The Caring Award is given to groups/individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary volunteerism efforts. 


















YOUTH CARING FOR OTHERS HUNGER DRIVE CHALLENGE AWARDS 2001
DICE received two silver awards in the categories of "Most Creative" and "Most Pounds of Food" in the Youth Caring For Others Hunger Drive Challenge.  They left flyers in mailboxes and then went back a week later to collect food; put a can charge to get into a talent show; colleted food from family and friends; held a dance in which 1/3 of the proceeds went towards buying food for this drive; and they held a contest at City Hall between all the offices to see which could bring in the most cans of food.  The winner received a cake of their choice from Greggs.  This is the manner in which they received the awards.  Lot's of hardwork earned them these awards!

DAILY POINTS OF LIGHT AWARD
The Points Of Light Foundation selects and individual or organization every day (365 days of the year) to honor for commendable service to better their communities.  On May 17, 2001, they honored DICE and dedicated that entire day to them.  They were featured on their website all day long,and legislators, media and city officials were sent information regarding their honor.  They were presented with the award at one of their meetings by someone from the Volunteer Center of RI.  They've recently received a citation from the governor of RI and letters from the President of the US as well as their representative, Patrick Kennedy. 










YOUTH CARING FOR OTHERS HUNGER DRIVE
CHALLENGE 2002
DICE mobilized the entire city of East Providence to collect food for the needy.  They collected over 2,300 pounds of food and 300 signatures.  They did this in a variety of ways: went door to door in local EP neighborhoods, collected donations at Shaw's, held a contest at City Hall, collected donations at a talent show as an admission entry price, put an article in the newspaper and so on.  They took home 3 GOLD AWARDS in the youth group category in which over 10 groups competed: "Most Creative Means For Collecting Food", "Most Pounds Of Food Donated" and "Most Petitions Collected". 













INDIVIDUAL DICE MEMBER AWARDS

JASON ABRAHAM AWARD
Courtney Lacerda was the recipient of the first time Jason Abraham Award and was presented it at the Caritas House Awards Ceremony  in July 2000.  The Jason Abraham Award was presented to two RI high school students who volunteered their time in the substance abuse field.  A $500 savings bond and a chance to serve on the selection board for next years process were part of the award. 

YOUTH CARING FOR OTHERS AWARDS 2001
The Youth Caring For Others International recognizes high school juniors and seniors for their volunteerism efforts.  This year Katie Saraiva, Courtney Lacerda and Barry Morang were recipients.  They were honored at an event in March as well as at the state house.  They each received a citation from the house and senate, as well as a plaque from YCFO.   

















YOUTH CARING FOR OTHERS AWARDS 2002
The Youth Caring For Others International recognizes high school juniors and seniors for their volunteerism efforts.  In the year 2002, Stacey Partington, Nicholas Pfeiler, Amelia Samson and Lindsay Simmons were recipients.  They were once again honored at an event in April at the statehouse.  They were each recognized by the house, senate, YCFO and Feinstein.  



































YOUTH CARING FOR OTHERS AWARDS 2003
The Youth Caring For Others International recognizes high school juniors and seniors for their volunteerism efforts.  In the year 2003,  Chantel Adalio, Albert Jennings, Carole Patriquin, Tracey Raposo, Keila Veiga and Jennifer Williams
were recipients.  They were once again honored at an event in April at the statehouse.  They were each recognized by the house, senate, YCFO and Feinstein.  













MOTHERS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING L.I.F.E AWARD
DICE was recognized at the graduation ceremony of the Teamspirit 2003 Conference in July for their Excellence in preventing underage drinking and education efforts in their school, community and the state of RI.  Out of over 20 schools/communities, only 4 were recognized and we were one of them!!!

METLIFE HAVE YOU MET A HERO AWARD 2003
Chantel Adalio nominated DICE for this award and we were presented it on August 20, 2003 for demonstrating extraordinary, selfless and heroic acts driven toward insuring safety and injury prevention.  We were recognized by 3 separate citations from the Congressional Delegation as well.











HEALTHY SCHOOLS! HEALTHY KIDS! PROGRAM RECOGNITION AWARD 2004
DICE received the 8th Annual Healthy Schools Healthy Kids Program Recognition Award in front of over 200 people at the statehouse in Providence RI on May 26, 2004 for working to improve the health and education of RI children and youth.  It was presented by the RI Dept. of Education and Health. 











HEALTHY SCHOOLS! HEALTHY KIDS! INDIVIDUAL RECOGNITION AWARD 2005
Mathew Brum was nominated on behalf of DICE for the Healthy Schools Healthy Kids Student Recognition Award and received only 1 of 3 presented.  He received the award in May of 2005 at the statehouse in RI for his work in improving the health and education of high school students in East Providence. 












EAST PROVIDENCE SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION TASK FORCE SCHOLARSHIP 2006 RECIPIENT
Kevin Dias received a $500 scholarship to go towards his college education at DICE's banquet in May.  Besides being DICE's President, Kevin also sat on the Task Force Board and represented the youth voice.  Kevin is going on to major in English at Brown University in the fall of 2006.

TANIA ROCHA DEDICATION AWARD 2006 
Kevin Dias received DICE's highest honor at the banquet in May.  Because of his dedication and commitment to DICE and bettering his community, he was bestowed with this honor for 2 years in a row!!! He walks in the footsteps of Tania Rocha and serves as an excellent leader and role model for all to look up too.
















MOST IMPROVED AWARD 2006
Randy McCauliffe received DICE's Most Improved Award at the banquet in May.  Randy has come a long way since he first joined DICE and because of his commitment to bettering himself, he was presented with this award.  We are proud of him.

UNSUNG HERO AWARD 2006
Kerystn Smith was the recipient of DICE's Unsung Hero Award 2006 and was presented with the award at the banquet in May.  Kerstyn is consistently helping out and doing tasks which others brush aside.  She is quiet and a behind the scene's type of gal and truly is an Unsung Hero.

MOST ENTHUSIASTIC AWARD 2006
Dewey Raposo was the recipient of the DICE Most Enthusiastic Award 2006.  He was presented the award at the banquet in May.  It was given to him because of his optimism, open-mind and energy.  He is someone who many follow and is always kind and considerate of others.  He is an inspiration!

PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARD 2006
Britney Dias was presented with DICE's Most Participatory Award at the banquet.  She has attended the most meetings and events in the past year.  Her dedication has not gone unnoticed.  
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD 2006
Phillip Riveira was presented with DICE's Rookie Of The Year Award at the banquet in May.  He has a lot of potential and because of his constant dedication to the group he was recognized.  Keep up the excellent work!
